Sometime last year, a gentleman by the name of Matthew Gallagher got an idea that has taken off and is one of the more incredible success stories on the internet.

In honor of his dad, he created a subscription service called Watch Gang.

Each month a member gets a watch – and every member has a chance to win a Rolex on the live drawing each Friday.

The original level of the subscription service offered a chance at vintage and other watches for about $30 a month.

The Facebook page for his service, had about 1,500 members when I ran across it, and now boasts over 17,000 members.

Every month each subscriber receives a watch worth at least the subscription price or more and can trade it on the Facebook page for something else they might like better.

It also became a pretty large trading group where members could trade not just subscription watches they received, but others in their collection. I have seen people trading Deep Blues, Omegas, Citizens,  and Seikos. No replicas or fakes are allowed in the group; the mods and admins have made that clear.

Their customer service is exemplary – they should be the model for other companies. If a watch is defective, the issue is resolved quickly; there have also been the instances when a watch truly did get lost and a replacement was rapidly dispatched to the subscriber.

Many people love to post their Watch of the Day (WOTD) and the threads for the posts get pretty long as members post what they are wearing.

Well that’s where my Daily Wrist concept got started. I love watches, can you tell?

WatchGang has now added three more levels for subscribers – Black for $100 a month, Platinum for $250 and Centum for $1000.

Some of the watches I have seen from the higher levels are just phenomenal – Terra Cielo Mare and OutOfOrder – both brands based in Italy and Swiss made.

Brad Pitt wore the Terra Cielo Mare Orienteering watch in World War Z, which has raised the awareness of this brand to a new level. heck, I had never heard of it before and didn’t even know that the watch was in that movie!

The bottom line: if you like getting a new watch, perhaps something that you might not even have worn before, and enjoy the anticipation, like 17,000 others do, the subscription is worth it!

Members also get access to very special deals that the company arranges with watch manufacturers…some of those are pretty nice!!
