The Advisor Founders Limited Edmon-R is a comfortable, easy to read watch reminiscent of the Panerai military diver’s watch from the 1940s.

Based in Singapore, Advisor is garnering attention with many watch bloggers and reviewers, although this watch is not one provided by the company. (Some companies have sent me watches for review and I give my honest opinion regardless.)

There is the lever on the side to protect the crown from being accidentally moved and the time changed – an accident waiting to happen for anyone relying on the watch to determine how much longer they can stay under water with scuba gear. This feature was present on the Panerai’s starting in the 1940s from what I can dig up on their history. It was an answer to the screw down crown on the Rolex Watches of that era.

This is not a diver’s watch! It’s an homage! Do not take it diving!! Really!

It sports water resistance of 3ATM, about 100 feet. For me I avoid getting dress watches near any water unless they are rated to better than 100 feet. It’s just my rule of thumb – some watches I have are vintage and would only require hundreds of dollars in overhauls if they get moisture inside the movements.

I particularly like this watch for its looks and comfort on my wrist. The leather band is thick but easy to wear.

It goes with my button down days and my jeans days, which are rapidly turning into shorts days here in the desert.

As this is my second time wearing it, the leather band is still rather stiff but feels like it will last for many years.

The curve of the domed mineral crystal catches the light especially in the sun – it’s hard not to keep looking at it. I’m really admiring the design element of the entire top of the watch as the crystal dome gently transitions to the top of the watch.

It’s rose gold finish is designed to look aged as it slightly tarnishes over time. Oddly, their Indiegogo states that this was not available but somehow I got one from one of my sources.

At first I was concerned that the finish had tarnished and actually used polish – it worked but took the aging off. Advisor let me know that the look was intentional…oops. I’m leaving it alone and letting it be! I’m sure it will reaquire it’s patina shortly.

The dial appears to have the numerals die cut into the black substrate leaving the lume to glow gently through the numbers. It also gives it more dimensionality when looking at it versus having a painted numeral loom found on some watches.

The lume is quite reminiscent of a vintage look – it’s there but I take some extra time to acquire the numbers in the dark.

This was their launch in 2017, and in 2018, Advisor has moved on to more original creations that are still masculine and less of an homage but iterations that are taking Advisor into new designs.

As this watch has been kinda sitting until this review, heck I wanted to do a full photo shoot but ran outta time, it’s now in the rotation for my weekend and more formal meetings.
